The Key West beaches are not exactly the best that Florida has to offer. No visitor to this state is going to mistake them for the beaches of Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach. The best beach in the Keys is 45 minutes away at Bahia Honda State Park Beach.
These beaches are small, the sand is coarse, rocks are abundant, the slope hardly exists, and the waves simply do not exist. Nevertheless, two Key West beaches will suffice. Those two beaches are Smathers Beach and Fort Zachary Taylor Beach.
The most-famous Key West beach is Smathers Beach, which is the biggest and the most-popular. It is the beach with the most sand. Frequently you have seaweed on the sand. There is great snorkeling in the clear ocean. If you go in the water, there is a rough coral reef footing. Along with the sand and sea, you get parking, some picnic tables, restrooms, showers and concession stands. You can sit on a rented beach chair and relax. Water sports equipment is available for sailing or windsurfing. If you want another type of ride, jump in a boat or attempt parasailing.
It is a challenge to find Fort Zachary Taylor Beach. It is tucked away inside Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. The beach has a lovely natural appearance. There is not much sand, but there are plenty of rocks, coral and pine trees. Less natural, but very functional, items include rest rooms, showers, picnic tables, grills, and even a refreshment stand. You can rent kayaks or snorkeling equipment. There is a short nature trail. From this location you are able to see cruise ships entering and leaving the harbor.
Rest Beach is much smaller then Smathers Beach is and has far fewer amenities. Along with a patch of sand, you will find some picnic tables and one yoga deck. You have to go over to Higgs Beach to find restrooms. Rest Beach and Higgs Beach have the White Street Pier. This wooden pier provides good fishing and a base for snorkeling.
Like Rest Beach, Higgs Beach is smaller than Smathers Beach. Higgs Beach is on the other side of the street from the Astro Park children’s park. Along with the restrooms and shower are a few picnic tables and limited concessions. Fine dining is available at the restaurant on the beach. Beach chairs and snorkeling equipment are offered in case you want to rent them.
Dog Beach, as the names suggests, is for dogs and their human escorts. Rocky as it may be, the dogs seem to love it. They run along the beach and race into the sea. It is a wonderful beach if you love dogs. If you do not, this is not going to be your favorite beach.
There are two other public beaches. Since South Beach has no facilities, you will not see many people there who are not locals. With so little parking available, people walk to get to it. Simonton Street Beach is the smallest of them all. It is observed more than it is used.

For many centuries the method called “fly fishing” has been a popular method, of catching fish, employed by anglers worldwide. Today the sport continues to grow in popularity globally with numerous fly fishing resorts in Europe (Scotland, Norway etc) and the USA (Alaska, Colorado etc.). The sports popularity expands due, in part, to the unique skills required and incredible challenges offered in order to catch a fish.
Most important in fly fishing is the piece of equipment known as the fly (hence the name!). Flies are artificial lures which have been created using various materials but usually following a well known fly pattern. Different fly patterns are often used in different locations and weathers and if one fails to work then it is likely that a change to another pattern will lead to success. Some fly patterns have been used in fly fishing for a great many years and are widely known to anglers.
The fly is usually designed with two things in mind, that is, it should behave like, and look like, the natural food of the fish. The fly patterns usually attempt to make to fly look like a creature which the fish will usually eat but made in such a way as it also moves in the water in a similar fashion.
Also of extreme importance, in fly fishing, are the other items of equipment such as the fishing rod, line and reel. Each item has to be finely crafted to ensure that it is sufficiently strong to haul in some incredibly large fish. It is also of extreme importance that all of the fly fishing equipment is, when put together, finely balanced.
It is of immense importance that all fly fishing equipment remains light in weight while also being extremely strong (in order to be able to land the large fish such as Atlantic salmon). Fly fishing rods can be purchased in various sizes from between seven and nine foot in length. The fly fishing rod should also be flexible enough to ensure that you can cast great distances with minimal effort.
Besides the fly fishing equipment essentials there are a great many fly fishing accessories available to the modern angler. High on the shopping list of many is a decent set of waders which can be purchased relatively cheaply nowadays. However spending a little more will equip you with the latest breathable waders made out of modern lightweight materials perfect for the angler who wants to remain cool and dry at all times. Of course there are many, many more fishing accessories available but few are really essential and should be considered a luxury.
Taking up fly fishing is rather easy as once you have your basic fly fishing equipment you can upgrade as your budget allows. You can start with a cheap fly fishing kit which can be obtained online or offline (from most sports retailers). Before you take to the waters I would advise that you take a short course or, at the least, a couple of lessons and many places offer the ability to hire equipment which can further reduce your initial outlay.
After only a short while the sport of fly fishing becomes extremely addictive and, before long, you will find yourself looking for opportunities to satisfy your appetite for it. While many folk are lucky enough to live in places such as Scotland, Alaska or Colorado, where there are plenty of places where one can go fly fishing, the majority of us have to travel some distance to get the best fishing. However it is relatively easy to book fly fishing vacations which cater for virtually every need of the angler.
Whether you indulge in the sport at a local stream, small river or lake you can be sure that a days fishing will be thoroughly enjoyed. Even when the fish aren’t biting so much a group of folk fishing will, most likely, produce a couple of fish with the aid of a fly. Even if you fail to catch a fish yourself you will still gain a great deal of enjoyment.

Here are some tips of how to make the most out of planning an economic vacation, through a little bit of prudence and hard work.
* You should keep yourself up-to-date by regularly checking on the internet, airline services and the news channels, for available discounts and privileges. Many new concerns in the field provide promotional fares for the expansion of their domain.
* If you travel frequently then signing up for flier miles is a judicious step.
* You can also look for students concession and discounts for senior citizens.
* Whether going to Spain or Australia, the travel schedule must be kept flexible in order to avail the best deals and packages. If a discount is available only on Tuesdays then try and schedule your journey on a Tuesday. Usually tickets are cheap on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays because of lesser reservations. Monday being the beginning of the week, remains the busiest day.
* Take time to browse through and then select through a variety of concerns before reserving a ticket. Do not go for the very first unit providing with discounted fare. Be patient enough to check out whether it is the cheapest of the packs available. When searching through the net make sure that you browse through at least 5 sites before finally buying the tickets. Often you will come across the best offer only after a lot of searching.
* Buying tickets through consolidators is another option. They buy blocks of tickets and resell them with discounts. The airline companies are helped by these men to fill up their remaining seats. Consolidators can be spotted through classified advertisements in newspapers.
* Off peak hour traveling helps to avail the best discounts at times. Flights before 7 am or after 7 pm are generally cheaper. The airlines are also less crowded during these flights.
* Whether the airline offers travel packages is a vital thing to ask. Some airlines do offer car-rental discount and accommodation discount with the ticket.
* If traveling off the season then you might even ask for some standby prices.
* The reservations should be done quite early. Promotional offers are usually subject to bookings that are made at least 3 weeks prior to the flight. It should be remembered that due to overcrowding during the holiday season the flier miles may not be used properly. Early booking helps in this case.
* Sticking to one particular airline throughout the trip also fetches huge discounts. Sometimes airlines provide discounts for round-the-trip tickets or even linking flights. So better keep a lookout for such offers.
Enjoy a safe trip!

Are you leaving the country for a vacation or holiday? Do you travel once a year and want to make sure you have insurance to cover anything that can go wrong. Some travelers will tell you to avoid travel insurance if you have enough money to cover your trip, but in reality something always goes wrong and having travel insurance can be a great help. If your vacation is less than 120 days and you only travel once a year consider purchasing single trip travel insurance and you will be ready in case of that emergency.
Many different travel insurance companies specifically carry single trip travel insurance. Single trip travel insurance will provide compensation if your need emergency medical service or your trip is canceled. Travel insurance usually carries additional benefits such as compensation if your luggage is lost or damaged or legal assistance if needed. The benefits available with your travel insurance will vary from one company to another make sure you read your insurance agreement before leaving on vacation to know exactly what issues are covered. With single trip travel insurance you can rest assured that someone will be able to assist you in the event of an emergency during your vacation.
Before you purchase single trip travel insurance it is important to do your homework. The cost for single trip travel insurance will vary among companies you want. In order to find the best deal in single trip travel insurance it is recommended you research at least three different companies and compare their insurance benefits. Most companies will provide you an instant quote and benefit statement online, all you need to do is provide your travel dates and destinations. Some companies even provide a travel insurance benefit for children free as long as there is one paying adult over the age of 18.
Each insurance company’s plans will vary slightly but generally you should get at least $10,000 in emergency medical insurance and $3,000 for trip cancellations. Make sure that the amount of trip cancellation insurance you purchase will cover all your expenses in the event you need to cancel your travel vacation. The insurance company should also provide you with a period where you can cancel the insurance for a full refund, this is usually 15 days after you purchase the insurance. Generally you should purchase single trip travel insurance at the same time you book and pay for your trip but be cautious on expending the money right if you expect your travel plans to change.
Even for the most seasoned traveler things will go wrong. It may be a plane that can not take off due to an emergency, a lost suitcase, or a medical issue while visiting the outer regions of a remote island. Do not take the chance that you will be stranded without any assistance or money to take care of your medical issues. Single trip travel insurance is your best travel companion and with a little research very reasonably priced.

Do you enjoy cruising and are looking for a different vacation experience? Have you already visited Alaska, the Greek Isles, and Mexico? Are you looking for a bright summer vacation in the middle of a cold winter? It is time to experience a new area of the planet, it is time to visit Oceania. Do not be afraid of an exotic vacation costing more than you can afford. You will be able to find discount cruises to Oceania.
Oceania is the section of the earth around the South Pacific islands and Australia. These are the areas of the world commonly known as Micronesia and Polynesia. Cruises in the Oceania region are becoming popular and considered a luxury cruise on a moderate budget. Because cruises to many of the islands in Oceania are not as popular or well known, the prices for these cruises are more moderate than some of the Caribbean island cruises.
The cruise ships used for Oceania cruises are usually smaller than the average ship used for other cruises. The ships still contain all the amenities you have come to expect from other cruise vacations but on a slightly smaller scale. A smaller ship also means less people but usually the same amount of crew. So if large crowds bother you consider giving cruising one more try with a cruise to Oceania. Less vacationers means the crew will be able to pay more attention to you and your needs.
Because of the changes in seasons between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, the prime cruising period for Oceania is from September to February. Oceania will be in the middle of summer during this time and quite reasonable in temperature. Imagine a Christmas holiday cruise to Australia where the sun is shining instead of shoveling snow in your driveway.
Finding a discount cruise to Oceania is easy. First, you can choose to travel during an off-peak time. During off-peak travel, ships offer great discount cruise to travelers because there is reduced demand for travel. Also, you can find great discounts if you are able to travel on one or two days notice. Cruise companies always want to sale with a full ship so many times they will offer last minute travel discounts or bonuses to travelers. It may take you a day to travel to your port of call, but a good travel agent will keep travel time in mind when contacting you about last minute cruise deals.
There are many websites that offer cruise deals and usually Oceania cruises will be included in their deals. Sign up for cruise sale notifications and contact your local travel agents and ask them to contact you if any last minute sales are posted to the ports you want to visit. Be as flexible with your travel dates as you can and you will find a great deal and a new location for cruising. With all the islands in the Oceania region you may spend years cruising the ports of Oceania.

Sitting 990 miles southeast of Australia, this wonderfully diverse and breathtakingly scenic country is a cluster of islands in the South Pacific, the largest two being the North and South Islands which stretch the combined distance of 1600km. Those who live in New Zealand refer to it as God’s Own as a tribute to its beauty. The weather is usually a hot topic of conversation as it plays a huge part in the livelihood of this farming nation. New Zealand is the world’s biggest exporter of meat, wool, cheese and butter. Another popular name for New Zealand is the Maori word ‘Aotearoa’ meaning ‘land of the long white cloud’ and with its generally temperate and damp climate and mostly mountainous landscape, this is not surprising.
The Maori culture has left in its wake a nation filled with Maori descendants who hold dear the teachings of their elders and an authentic Maori encounter can be had virtually anywhere in New Zealand, a rare opportunity to experience the prayer, language, dance, legends, trades and food of the Maori.
It is definitely a necessity for any travelers visiting New Zealand to acquire New Zealand Travel Insurance but not for reasons one would normally expect. Travelers from around the world fly immense distances to visit this easternmost country (the first country to see in the new-year and the first hour of every day) in search of a real Kiwi experience. It is home to bungee jumping entrepreneur A J Hackett, and has nurtured a host of activities to satisfy adrenaline junkies from coast to coast including some of the more recent inventions such as Fly by Wire and Base Jumping. For these sports you need a company that can offer you New Zealand Travel Insurance that covers adrenaline sports in its policy; not always an easy task as adrenaline sports are high risk and if involved in an accident, the costs that occur can reach well into the millions if the victim involved faces high medical costs, rehabilitation and possibly even the necessity to be flown home (repatriation).
For the avid birdwatcher, the diversity of the cold South Island and hotter North Island both make New Zealand a popular destination and there are hardly any predators capable of depleting its masses of birdlife. A common nickname for a New Zealander is ‘Kiwi’. This is taken from a nocturnal bird indigenous to the islands, one of a list of many that call New Zealand home. To spot some of the less sighted birds, a little exploring and orienteering is required. Again, New Zealand Travel Insurance a wise idea for your peace of mind.
North Island contains hot springs and geysers and South Island is mostly mountainous with glaciers and eastern lowlands. Be amazed by the beauty of the forests and farmlands and the rivers and unlimited access to the ocean. Be thrilled by the ongoing activities from fishing and camping to rock climbing and sky diving. New Zealand is a playground for adventurers and the more mellow family vacationers. It is important to get good New Zealand Travel Insurance that will cover adventure sports which is not only ideal for active travelers but also for families going on fishing charters or even just kayaking around the bays. It is a country that takes at least three hours’ flying time to reach and in some cases, almost 24 hours. When holidaying or on business so far from home, it’s a comfort to know that someone is watching your back in case any problems should arise.
For anyone wanting to see the world, New Zealand should be in your top five! The Kiwi people are very hospitable and have a true sense of understated pride in their country which they are eager to share with visitors.

Are you travelling this summer? Over exposure to heat can be especially bad for the elderly and children. Following some basic precautions can keep you safe.
1. The time between 10 am and 2 pm can be the hottest. It is best to avoid being outdoors during those times. Schedule your day’s events according to that and plan to be indoors or in shaded areas.
2. Light colored clothing which is loose and light weight is the best choice for hot weather. Try to wear a wide brimmed hat to protect your face and neck. Wear full sleeved shirts made out of natural fibers like cotton which can breathe.
3. Even if you do not have any direct exposure to the sun, you must wear sunscreen with SPF rating of at least 30. Read the labels for directions to re apply. Almost all of them require re application every few hours for maximum protection.
4. You can lose a lot of fluids in the heat, so you must drink plenty of water. Instead of drinking water only when you are thirsty drink some in regular intervals throughout the day. Alcohol and sugary drinks can make you more dehydrated.
5. Be on the lookout for symptoms of heatstroke and heat exhaustion. Heatstroke can come about suddenly and can result in loss of consciousness with extremely high body temperature. It occurs when the body is unable to regulate its temperature and the sweating mechanism fails. The skin is very dry, hot and red. The victim can be cooled with ice or cold water and must be taken to the hospital immediately because it can be fatal.
6. Water and electrolyte loss can cause a less serious condition called heat exhaustion. The victim is fatigued and weak and may experience excessive sweating. Sometimes they may also experience muscle cramps because of salt depletion. Pale and clammy skin is a common sign. Provide rest and lost of fluids in a cool and well ventilated area.
In such situations it is important that you have necessary travel or visitor health insurance. Before you start on your trip, talk to your insurance agent. Have fun this summer!
