Fun and Secure Foreign Backpacking Trips

by Ada Denis

The decision to receive a backpacking trip overseas is a big one, and you are in for an awesome adventure. Backpacking in Europe or other overseas lands, with their ancient pasts, often brings surprises and breathtaking experiences. If you are fairly new to traveling overseas then there are some things you should be careful of so you can have a mastered trip. The following list outlines some of the best advice for traveling abroad.

Know applicable local and national laws. Make sure you understand the local laws and customs. This is important because the last thing you want is problem. There are places you can and cannot go. If there is any question, check with local authorities. Many area require a permit.

Have your written document in order. Make sure you have everything you need to travel overseas and get into the destination country. You should check with both states to ensure all of your paperwork is in order. Take Note that Americans need passports for Canada and Mexico visits now.

Make sure your map is up to date. You should check to make sure the map you are taking is contemporary. You do not want to plan a backpacking trip in an area that has lately been converted from wild to a shopping at center.

Keep your family in the loop. Just as you would when backpacking at home, you need to fill up in your family on all your plans. This is even more important when traveling. You never make out what can happen and nobody there is going to get you may be in problem.

Take medical exam data with you. If you have any allergies or specific conditions or needs, make sure they are documented and carry them where they can be learned, like in a wallet or on a bracelet.

Have a back up program. You can not constantly go back home easily if your plans are detoured by weather or some other unexpected event. Be sure you have an alternative plan in place so your trip is not destroyed. Watch the seasons, and plan for a season that has a better chance of having decent weather. Overseas backpacking in a hurricane would be no fun!

Even though you are going on a backpacking trip you still need to understand the basics behind safe travel abroad. You should try to leave valuables at home. You should hire a local tour guide and always travel in a group or with at least one other person. It is also important that you stick to public areas. Do not try to venture to unknown areas. You never know what types of problems you could run into. Travel smart and your trip will most likely be one of the most awesome experiences you will ever have.

Taking a few cares can ensure that your overseas backpacking trip will be one of the most fun and charging experiences you ever have!

Cheap Holidays In La Palma

by Mark Ian Nettlemill

La Isla Bonita is often the pet name given to La Palma. One of the smallest Canary Islands and the most volcanically active, the last eruption was the Teneguia volcano in 1971. La Palma is a place of wondrous natural beauty and is unspoilt by masses of tourists - the perfect place to go for a cheap, peaceful holiday!

Things to Do in La Palma

The biggest attraction of La Palma and one that it would be criminal not to visit is the National Park of Taburiente. A cheap way to spend your holiday, wandering around the endless forests or mountain summit paths! You’ll get to see some of the best scenery in the world! Gaze in awe at the imposing volcanoes, listen to the song birds in the rain forests and fall completely in love with the black volcanic landscapes marked with lava roads and lonely pines that run close to heather covered hills. Any way you look at it, you’ll never forget visiting La Palma!

La Palma is an island of white washed cottages and greenery everywhere. For places to visit, try the Roquede De Los Muchachos which rises over 2000m and is the site of the astronomical observatory. From that point you can get a great view of the whole island and even some of the neighboring ones! Zarza Archaeological Park is worth a visit to see the cave carvings drawn by the ancient natives of La Palma. Cueva Bonita, interesting architecture - there’s lots to keep you occupied in La Palma. The island activities generally revolve around the amazing scenery which is great for tourists - sight seeing is a cheap way of having fun!

Beaches of La Palma

La Palma has some fantastic black sand beaches. The water off the shore of La Palma is some of the clearest around the Canaries and snorkeling can last for hours as you lose yourself in the clear underwater world and follow the friendly colourful fish. The beaches are generally small and very often deserted so you can enjoy a cheap relaxing day at the beach without the annoyance of crowds of people!

Hotels and Bars of La Palma

La Palma hasn’t got as many bars, restaurants or hotels as the more popular Canary Islands. However, the few that are about all have fantastic food, friendly atmospheres and charm by the bucketful! La Palma generally doesn’t have the high-rise hotels that the other islands have so this is definitely a plus! Hotels here are more elegant and friendly and there are a lot of cheap deals available and some cheap budget hotels. Many people who come to La Palma prefer to stay in private cottages which may work out cheaper but the advantage of a hotel is not having to lift a finger on your peaceful holiday!

Once you come to La Palma, you’ll never want to go anywhere else!

See Italy’s Famous Water City - Venice

by Jillian Kammer

Venice is more than just another romantic place. It’s more than a city filled with art treasures, and it doesn’t just host a multitude of some fine architecture. Venice is all of this and much, much more.

A good example of what Venice has to offer is St. Mark’s Basilica. The rival of St. Peter’s in Rome, this church is not as large and grand as its rival but reveals amazing work that is considered some of the finest anywhere.

The Campanile can be found outside the Basilica di San Marco, which served as its belltower. Previously this place has been a military lookout during dangerous times to help keep Venice safe. Nowadays the church serves no purpose other than aesthetically but the sight is delightful and cherished by tourists who are lucky enough to visit.

The Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) hosts them both among other things. The Square is a fabulous sight in itself, but also serves as a great gathering spot for tourists. A substantial clock tower is housed here, and the square provides access to the Doge’s palace. A lack of traffic and vehicle noise is a huge reason that the Square lends itself to Venice’s grace and charm.

Best known for other things such as gondolas and the Grand Canal, Venice can be seen while boating down the main waterway or the secondary channels of the city.

The Rialto, among other main bridges, is found along the Grand Canal. Some of the best views of the palaces can be taken in by moving up the Grand Canal by Vaporetto or in a gondola. This vantage point cannot be found elsewhere.

The loggia of the Ca’ d’Oro (The Golden House) can easily be accessed from the canal. A short vaporetto ride away is the Palazzo Grassi which serves as a perfect example of Venice’s architecture.

In very different styles, you can find more examples another boat ride away, such as the Villas of Venice. Villa Pisani began in the early 1700s and the Versailles of Paris was used as the model. Palladio who is a world famous architect offers a large collection of his work at La Rotunda and Padova houses many other works form other artists such as the Villa Contarini- Camerini.

Several islands can be found just outside the main city, a couple of which include Murano and Burano. Murano offers famed glass work from century old artists while Burano houses a museum dedicated to lace which have been astounding the world for centuries by craftsmen of Venice.

A master renaissance painter named Tintoretto offers a large collection of his works displayed at the Scoula Grande di San Rocca. Near by, the Gallerie dell’ Accademia offers plenty of other art masterpieces from renowned artists. Other Venice paintings, architecture and opera can be found in one spot at La Fenice.

If visiting Venice during the 2 weeks before lent, participate in Carnevale by becoming a theater performer yourself. A mask to take home is a trophy you’ll never want to forget. With wonderful people living in Venice and the wonders of their culture, art and architecture, no other place will bring on a smile that will last a lifetime.
